ABOUT ENTREPRENEUR FIRST

Entrepreneur First is the best place in the world to find your co-founder and build a startup from scratch. Every six months, we bring together and fund high-potential individuals to help them meet their co-founder, develop an idea and raise money from leading investors - as fast as possible. We call this Talent Investing.  See how it works here.

The companies built at EF are now worth over $10bn. They include Tractable (a computer vision unicorn), Cleo, Omnipresent, Aztec, Airbank, Transcelestial and many more. The portfolio is fast growing, with its companies having increased in value by more than 70% in the past year.

EF is funded and backed by some of the world's best tech founders and company builders, including Patrick and John Collison (Stripe); Reid Hoffman (LinkedIn), Tom Blomfield (GoCardless and Monzo), Sara Clemens (Pandora and Twitch); Nat Friedman (GitHub); and Matt Mullenweg (Wordpress).

Having raised our Series C round of investment at the end of last year, we are well-capitalised out to 2026, and have ambitious plans to further scale our impact over the coming years.

THE ROLE

We are looking for a Fund Finance Associate to join our expanding Fund Team, which is responsible for: optimising the deployment of our investment capital; analysing and reporting fund & portfolio performance, both for EF’s investors and to drive internal strategic decisions; owning day-to-day interactions with our limited partners, and helping to build out future fund structures to increase the value captured by EF from it’s unique investing model.

You will report to the Fund Team Manager (Lily Macfarlane), and will become the owner of the operational and financial processes associated with EF’s investment activity globally, whilst also playing a role in wider team projects such as: fundraising, investor relations, and analytical assignments to inform strategic decision-making.

This is a role with lots of autonomy and self direction day-to-day, with clear opportunities for progression as you become the go-to expert on unique work streams within the business.  It will be an excellent opportunity to apply your accounting skills and knowledge to the world of venture capital, as well as building deep expertise in fund operations, performance, structuring and strategy at one of the world’s most innovative and dynamic investors.

This is a fantastic opportunity for someone with career aspirations of progressing to a head of finance/CFO role in venture capital.

WHAT YOU'LL DO - Core responsibilities

Manage EF’s fund administrators, working closely with them to deliver key fund reporting requirements such as quarterly reports for investors, which includes review and reconciliation of investments made, calculation of portfolio valuations, multiples/IRRs, and review of capital accounts, drawdowns and distributions. Manage EF’s third party advisors, working closely with them on the delivery of annual financial statements, annual fund audits, and tax reporting (both UK and US). Calculate technical fund flows, such as waterfalls and carry schemes. Monitor our portfolio and apply knowledge of valuation techniques to ensure we are recording a true and fair view of the portfolio value (experience with IPEV is preferable but not essential). Monitor the cash positions of each fund, model future fund cash deployment, and drawdown capital from our investors as necessary.

WHAT YOU'LL DO - Additional responsibilities

Support a wider team, including the COO, on fundraising efforts for both the operating company and new funds.  Report to Senior Management on both current and upcoming investment activity, as well as fund performance metrics. Apply creative and critical thinking to identify and implement ways of increasing the efficiency of the operational processes associated with EF’s investment activity. Manage day-to-day investor communications and provide insightful fund analysis to present to investors.
