The European Space Agency (ESA) is seeking a Metrology Engineer to join our Engineering Services Section within the Directorate of Technology, Engineering and Quality at ESTEC in Noordwijk, Netherlands. This role is crucial for supporting the development and maintenance of our test facilities and instrumentation, which are vital for the success of ESA projects and programs.

The role: As a Metrology Engineer, you will be involved in performing metrology measurements and providing consultancy services to the Test Centre, laboratories, and ESA programmes. Your responsibilities will include contributing to the day-to-day activities of the Metrology Laboratory, participating in feasibility studies, project reviews, and the evaluation of procurement proposals. You will also be instrumental in defining requirements, conceptual designs, development, and qualification of test instrumentation focused on precision contactless measurements.

Job requirements: The ideal candidate will hold a master's degree in geodesy, precision engineering, or equivalent. You should have hands-on laboratory experience, familiarity with standard metrology tools such as laser trackers and CMM machines, and experience with MATLAB, LABVIEW, or Python. Knowledge of laboratory quality and management systems, specifically ISO 17025/9001, is essential.
