The European Space Agency (ESA) is seeking a Space Weather Project Manager to join our Space Safety Programme Office, specifically within the Space Weather Office. This role is based in our Operations Directorate at ESOC in Darmstadt, Germany.
The role: As a Space Weather Project Manager, you will report to the Head of the Space Weather Office. Your primary responsibilities will include the end-to-end management of a project aimed at developing space weather capabilities for the Belgian defence sector. This involves everything from initial tender preparation through to contract kick-off, implementation, review, and formal closure upon successful delivery. You will translate end-user roadmaps into clear contractual and technical requirements, manage project timelines, and ensure the delivery of project deliverables. Additionally, you will lead a multidisciplinary team, including ESA colleagues and industrial contractors, to achieve project goals.
Job requirements: The ideal candidate will have a Master's degree in an engineering or scientific discipline. You should possess multi-disciplinary knowledge and experience in space/ground system development, integration, verification, and testing. Proven experience in managing space/ground project implementations and familiarity with ESA procurement aspects are essential. Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills are crucial for this role.
