Role Summary:

Role Requirements:

  • Master's degree or equivalent in engineering.
  • Experience managing industrial contracts and industrial activities.
  • Knowledge in the technical domains of space transportation systems.
  • Understanding of ESA's procurement processes is desirable.
  • Experience in commercialisation programmes and cooperation with the European Union is advantageous.

The European Space Agency (ESA) is seeking a dynamic individual to join our team as the ELC Capacity Demonstration Manager / Boost! Commercial Services Manager. This role is situated within the Boost!/European Launcher Challenge Programme, under the Directorate of Space Transportation at ESA Headquarters in Paris, France.

The role: As a manager in this position, you will play a pivotal role in supporting Europe's emerging commercial space transportation sector. Your responsibilities will include accelerating the development of new space transportation systems and ensuring robust, competitive, and diversified access to space for European institutional and commercial customers. You will manage development support and capacity demonstration activities undertaken by selected companies under the Boost! and/or ELC programmes. This includes technical and programmatic monitoring, performance assessment, milestone validation, and coordination with ESA internal stakeholders and Member States.

Job requirements: The ideal candidate will have a master's degree or equivalent qualification in an engineering discipline. Experience in the management of industrial contracts and monitoring of industrial activities is essential. Knowledge and experience in the technical domains involved in the development of space transportation systems are required. An understanding of ESA's procurement processes would be desirable. Experience in industry-driven commercialisation programmes and in cooperation with the European Union would be an advantage.
