Department: Development + Construction
Employment Type: Permanent - Full Time
Location: UK - London
Reporting To: Technical Director
Compensation: £90,000 - £120,000 / year
Description
The Head of Construction is a key role for Field, responsible for leading a team of project managers delivering our large-scale, grid-connected battery energy storage projects, from financial close to the start of commercial operation. Your team will also be crucial in the pre-construction phase, preparing information for contractors and leading liaison with our lenders’ technical adviser.
Initially this role would be focused on the UK, and battery storage, but we plan to scale quickly and we anticipate this leading into more diverse projects, and new geographies. By the middle of 2023, we expect to have at least 5 projects totalling more than 200MW in construction.

Partnership management - You’ll be the face of Field for all of our contractors, so striking the balance between relationship and performance management will be key. You’ll need to have an eagle eye for detail during the tendering process, making sure all of our partners are able to deliver what we need, along with consummate relationship building skills as you work in partnership to deliver on time and to the highest standards.
Pre-construction management - You’ll be responsible for assessing risks and making sure these are mitigated (through the commissioning of technical studies, ground investigations, etc). You will have knowledge and experience of building project and company documentation, such as project contracts, employer's requirements and Pre-Construction Information Packs
Driving accountability - You will know our contracts inside and out, and will make sure that both Field and our partners deliver against all SLAs. You will hold accountability for the master programme, construction risk register and budget management and reporting, using these tools to hold yourself, your team and our partners accountable.
Building for scale - You will contribute your considerable expertise to help us build the processes, tools and capability across the business to mean we’re able to meet our ambitious growth targets. You’ll be gathering and sharing lessons learned post-project, finding and defining best practice processes and using technology to mean your team are working as efficiently as possible.
