The European Space Agency (ESA) is seeking a Senior Financial Advisor to join the Finance, Planning and Controlling Department within the Directorate of Resources and Services. This position is based at ESA Headquarters in Paris, France.
The role: As a Senior Financial Advisor, you will be responsible for the management of the Pension Buffer Fund. Your tasks will include providing secretariat services to the Pension Buffer Fund Management Board, supervising and monitoring the fund's assets and expenditure, and proposing investment opportunities. You will also be involved in organizing the selection of external service providers, ensuring proper accounting of fund assets, preparing annual financial statements, and liaising with external auditors. Additionally, you will manage the Agency’s social security and post-employment healthcare system, monitor its results, and coordinate Asset Liability Management studies for the ESA Pension Schemes and Medical Plan.
Job requirements: Applicants must hold a master's degree in finance or a relevant discipline. Strong expertise in accounting for complex financial instruments, particularly IPSAS 30 and IPSAS 41, is required. Good knowledge of SAP Financial modules and Microsoft Excel, along with excellent written and oral communication skills, are essential.
