As the Manager of Landscape Design, you will shape the future of one of the world’s most iconic landscapes. This role involves leading the planning and design of high-quality horticultural developments and landscape features at Kew Gardens. You will deliver aesthetic impact, resilience, and a cohesive style across the site, enhancing both the visitor experience and Kew’s global reputation. The role requires balancing visitor pressure and the need for self-generated income with world-class horticulture, collections care, and World Heritage responsibilities.
We are seeking a qualified designer or landscape architect with strong plant knowledge and hands-on horticultural experience. You should be motivated by working in a significant landscape and bring strong planning and stakeholder management skills. Your responsibilities will include managing growth sensitively while improving landscape quality and the visitor experience, alongside caring for and presenting a globally important living plant collection.
You will need a proven track record in planting design, landscape specification, cost planning, and project management, with experience in delivering projects of varying scale and complexity. The role also involves working with external consultants and providing specialist advice, requiring confidence in leading and supporting multidisciplinary projects.
