Role Summary:

Role Requirements:

The European Space Agency (ESA) is seeking a Materials and Processes Engineer to join the Materials, Manufacturing and Assembly Section within the Structures, Mechanisms and Materials Division of the Mechanical Department, under the Directorate of Technology, Engineering and Quality. Located at ESTEC in Noordwijk, Netherlands, this role offers a unique opportunity to contribute to ESA's cutting-edge projects in space technology.

The role: As a Materials and Processes Engineer, you will provide technical expertise and consultancy to ESA projects across all phases. Your focus will be on the reliability of electronic assemblies and associated manufacturing processes. Responsibilities include predictive performance modelling, process and product verification, defect analysis, and acting as an electronic assembly expert. You will also conduct ESA process audits, review test plans, assess test results, support tests and failure investigations, and develop test and modelling methodologies.

Job requirements: The ideal candidate will have a master's degree in materials engineering or science, with at least 4 years of relevant professional experience. You should have a general background in materials science, metallurgy, materials testing, and specific experience in high-reliability soldering connections. Familiarity with ECSS standards and experience in electronic manufacturing processes are essential.
