Role Requirements

The European Space Agency (ESA) is seeking two Ground Segment Product Engineers to join our Ground Segment Section within the Technology and Products Division, Systems, Strategic Programme Lines and Technology Department, under the Directorate of Connectivity and Secure Communications.
The role: As a Ground Segment Product Engineer, you will manage activities related to telecommunications ground and user segment technology and products. Your responsibilities will include initiating, monitoring, and controlling product development activities; managing the implementation of these activities; assessing business cases and market assumptions; conducting industry roadmap meetings; identifying product needs and innovation opportunities; supporting market intelligence studies; and contributing to strategic initiatives. You will also coordinate expert technical support from other ESA organisational units to ensure effective project management.
Job requirements: Applicants must have a master's degree in a relevant field and at least 4 years of relevant professional experience, or a bachelor's degree with an additional four years of relevant experience. Experience in ground segment technology and equipment, subsystem design and development, and a deep understanding of satellite communication market dynamics are essential. Direct experience with a commercial telecommunications operator and European industry, as well as an understanding of operating within a European agency framework, are highly advantageous. Strong negotiation skills and experience in contract or subcontract management are also required.
