Debate Teacher

ISSOS is seeking a Debate Teacher for our summer school program in Cambridge. This role is an exciting opportunity to join a dynamic team and contribute to a vibrant learning environment.

The organisation: ISSOS provides a unique, international learning environment during the summer for students aged 13-18. The role: As a Debate Teacher, you will lead a class of international students through a 3-week course focused on public speaking and debate. The curriculum covers all aspects of debate including delivery, organization, evidence analysis, argument intervention, and debating theory. Your main responsibilities will include teaching for 3 hours each weekday morning, creating and executing engaging lesson plans, and participating in evening activities on a compulsory rota basis. You will also ensure that students are safe and happy at all times and act as a positive role model.

Job requirements: The ideal candidate will have previous teaching experience, preferably with international students, and must be fluent in English. We are looking for someone who is a clear and effective communicator, enthusiastic, self-motivated, and passionate about instilling a love for debate in students. Strong classroom management skills and the ability to provide individual attention are essential.

Benefits: The position offers £2,200 GBP for the session, with up to £150 reimbursed for travel to and from Cambridge. Accommodation and meals are provided once students arrive, although staff are responsible for their meals during the orientation period.
