The European Space Agency (ESA) is excited to announce the opening for the position of ERS EO Applications Manager within the Directorate of Earth Observation Programmes, located at ESRIN in Frascati, Italy. This role is a unique opportunity to contribute to the European Resilience from Space (ERS) programme, which was initiated to enhance European Earth Observation (EO) capabilities for security stakeholders across Europe.
The role: As the ERS EO Applications Manager, you will play a pivotal role in defining, setting up, and implementing large-scale end-to-end services under the ERS programme. These services are designed to demonstrate the impact and benefits of the ERS programme and establish a robust baseline for operations. You will coordinate a team of technical experts, work closely with key stakeholders in the security community to consolidate requirements, and manage industrial procurements for service demonstrations. Your efforts will ensure that the ERS programme effectively supports the development of a pan-European system of dedicated satellites and customized EO solutions.
Job requirements: The ideal candidate will have a master's degree in a relevant field such as signal processing, electronic engineering, Earth science, computer science, or data science, and at least 10 years of professional experience in EO security applications. A PhD is an asset. You should also have extensive experience working with diverse stakeholders in the space and security communities, demonstrating leadership capabilities, strong communication skills, and a results-oriented approach.
