Organisation summary

Energy Local is a revolutionary social enterprise aimed at reshaping the local electricity market in favor of small-scale renewable generators and communities. Through the creation of nonprofit Energy Local Clubs (ELCs), our aim is to build a more efficient, localized electricity system that benefits consumers, communities, and local renewable generators.

Role Summary

  • Manage the relationship with licensed suppliers and Elexon
  • Develop and manage new regulatory amendments
  • Work with the team to understand barriers and create proposals for regulatory code changes
  • Develop lobbying campaigns as necessary
  • Work closely with the Technical and Innovation Director to shape the strategy of Energy Local

Energy Local is a social enterprise dedicated to transforming the electricity market for local communities and small-scale renewable generation. Our mission is to support the establishment of thousands of local, not-for-profit, Energy Local Clubs (ELCs). These clubs enable local renewable generation to be used locally, benefiting consumers, communities, and local renewable generators; building a better, local electricity system.

The role: As a Regulations, Markets, Operations Manager, you will manage Energy Local's relationship with licensed suppliers and Elexon, develop and manage new regulatory amendments, and develop new relationships with additional licensed suppliers. You will also work with the team to understand barriers and develop proposals for changes to regulatory codes, and develop lobbying campaigns as required. You will report to the Technical and Innovation director and work with her to develop Energy Local's strategy.

Job requirements: The ideal candidate should have knowledge of energy market regulatory codes, experience in the energy market, and an innovative approach to the development of robust regulation. Organizational and strategic skills are essential, along with the ability to see the wider picture and future scenarios. Confidence to challenge the status quo is also required.

Other requirements: You must be prepared to work remotely and alone, with some travel required. You will work within a project management framework, provide regular updates, and contribute to discussions in management meetings. You will also maintain accurate and up-to-date records regarding Clubs and Advisors and provide your own laptop and mobile phone.
