As a Secure Connectivity Lead Mission System Engineer, you will:

  • Supervise system engineering tasks associated with the plan and development of the ERS system of systems, including necessary transformations of the IRIS² system
  • Manage ERS system-level engineering responsibilities across various domains
  • Define system architecture and requirements
  • Lead technical assessments
  • Coordinate with various ESA directorates and the European Commission

Requisite qualifications consist of a master’s degree in a relevant engineering discipline or a bachelor’s degree with added experience. Extensive experience in the design and operation of large distributed space systems, especially with security constraints, is essential. Experience in multidomain space programs, system architecting, and managing industrial activities is also required.

The European Space Agency (ESA) is seeking a Secure Connectivity Lead Mission System Engineer for Preparatory Activities to join the Secure Connectivity System Office within the Secure Connectivity Programme Department of the Directorate of Connectivity and Secure Communications. This role is based at ESTEC in Noordwijk, Netherlands.

The Organisation: ESA is dedicated to the exploration of space and is involved in various projects that support the development and validation of governmental infrastructure and services across Europe. The Secure Connectivity Programme is crucial for supporting the EU's Secure Connectivity governmental infrastructure.

The Role: As a Secure Connectivity Lead Mission System Engineer, you will be responsible for overseeing the system engineering tasks related to the design and development of the ERS system of systems, including necessary evolutions of the IRIS² system. Your duties will include managing multidomain ERS system-level engineering activities, defining system architecture and requirements, leading technical evaluations, and coordinating closely with various ESA directorates and the European Commission.
