Role Summary

  • Lead all engineering tasks for the development and validation of the ground segment's operational concept, including control and mission systems.
  • Supervise the development, validation, and alignment of the operational concept at ground segment and system levels.
  • Ensure security and business continuity in the operational concept.

Role Requirements

  • A master's degree in a STEM subject plus at least 5 years of relevant professional experience.
  • Experience with operating a telecommunications system, ideally in satcom constellations.
  • Demonstrable experience in defining and implementing operational concepts for large systems.
  • Strong problem-solving, planning, organisational skills and a results-driven approach.

The European Space Agency (ESA) is seeking a Constellation Operations Architect to join the Secure Connectivity Ground Segment & Operations Office within the Secure Connectivity Programme Department in the Directorate of Connectivity and Secure Communications. This role is based at ESTEC in Noordwijk, Netherlands.

The role: As a Constellation Operations Architect, you will be responsible for all engineering tasks supporting the development and validation of the operational concept for the ground segment, including control and mission segment and systems. You will oversee the design, development, verification, validation, and qualification of operations. Your duties will include supervising the development of the operational concept at ground segment and system levels, maintaining alignment of the operational concept throughout various phases, and supervising the validation of the operational concept including security and business continuity.

Job requirements: Applicants must hold a master's degree in a relevant STEM subject and have at least 5 years of relevant professional experience. Experience in operating a telecommunications system, ideally in the domain of satcom constellations, and proven experience in the definition and implementation of operational concepts for large systems are required. Strong problem-solving skills, planning and organizational skills, and a results-oriented approach are essential.
