Role Summary

The European Space Agency (ESA) is seeking a Lead Mission Procurement Engineer for our Directorate of Connectivity and Secure Communication (D/CSC). This role is based at ESTEC in Noordwijk, Netherlands. As a Lead Mission Procurement Engineer, you will report to the Sunrise Partnership Project Manager within the LEO Satellites Programme Office and have a functional reporting line to the PHOENIX Partnership Project Manager in the Satellite Programmes Department.

The role: You will be responsible for the overall mission aspects of the assigned projects, including all its segments, for the ELSA-M Active Debris Removal (ADR) and the PHOENIX In-Orbit Servicing (IOS) missions. This includes satellite development, Assembly, Integration, Testing & Verification (AIT&V), and the associated ground segment and in-orbit demonstration. You will ensure overall coherence and end-to-end performance in accordance with schedule and cost requirements. As the focal point, you will interface daily with ELSA-M and PHOENIX industrial contractors, leading the mission development and AIT&V aspects.

Job requirements: The position requires a master’s degree in a relevant engineering discipline with at least 4 years of relevant professional experience, or a bachelor’s degree complemented by an additional four years of relevant professional experience. Experience in SatCom satellites procurement, specification, design, development, verification, AIT&V, and end-to-end in-orbit validation is essential. Knowledge of ESA and industrial space development, verification, and quality assurance processes is also required.
