Role Summary

Role Requirements

  • Security certifications like CISSP or CISM and personal security clearance are viewed positively

The European Space Agency (ESA) is seeking a Mission Operations Security Officer to join the Technical and Management Support Office within the Mission Operations Department (OPS-O), part of the Directorate of Operations (D/OPS). This position is based at ESOC in Darmstadt, Germany.

The Role: You will be involved in providing mission operations security for the ground segment and operations of missions entrusted to ESOC or supported by OPS. Your responsibilities will include supporting mission operations preparation and execution with operational (cyber) security aspects. You will assist the Mission Operations Security Team Lead and support the Cyber Security Manager (CSM) in implementing ESA security policy for the missions operated by the Department. Additionally, you will provide support to programs involving missions operated by institutional and commercial partners for ground segment and operations security-related matters.

Job Requirements: Candidates should have a master's degree in a relevant STEM domain with at least 2 years of relevant professional experience, or a bachelor's degree complemented by an additional 4 years of relevant professional experience. Experience in security engineering and standards, preferably applied to space, is mandatory. Flexibility, adaptability, and the ability to prioritize tasks in a multi-subject/multi-project operational environment are required. Security certifications such as CISSP or CISM and personal security clearance are considered assets.

Additional Information: Recruitment will be within the advertised grade band (A2-A4). However, if the selected candidate has less than four years of relevant professional experience following the completion of the master's degree, the position may be filled at A1 level.
