The European Space Agency (ESA) is seeking a Telecom Satellite AIT/AIV and Industrialisation Manager for the HummingSat Project within the Satellite Programmes Department of the Directorate of Connectivity and Secure Communications. HummingSat is a cutting-edge product line of small geostationary satellites developed by a European and Canadian consortium under an ESA partnership project. This role is crucial in strengthening Europe's space sector through the serialisation of satellite components such as antennas, platform equipment, launch systems, user terminals, and ground technologies.
The role: As the Telecom Satellite AIT/AIV and Industrialisation Manager, you will oversee the completion of HummingSat design and qualification of the new satellite product line and ensure the delivery of the initial commercial satellites to customers. You will report to the ESA HummingSat Project Manager and be responsible for supervising satellite assembly, integration, and testing. This includes preparing the product line design-to-AIT concept and managing the manufacturing, integration, testing, and in-orbit validation of the satellites. The position involves extensive periods of co-location with the industrial prime contractor in Spain and Switzerland.
Job requirements: The ideal candidate will have a master’s degree in a relevant field with at least 4 years of professional experience or a bachelor’s degree with an additional four years of relevant experience. Experience in complex space programmes up to launch and in-orbit testing, preferably in telecommunications, and familiarity with ESA procurement processes are essential.
