The Opportunity

Our Assistant Surf Coach position is a golden opportunity for a young and enthusiastic individual who wants to take their first few steps in the surf coaching and hospitality sector. 

This experience will see your surf skills improve under the tutelage of our professional surf coaches. It also gives you a chance to discover whether surf coaching suits you. Note that as a small business, flexibility and a good work ethic is essential. You’ll also be assisting the Tiny Whale surf school team in a variety of different duties.

EDUCATION AND TRAINING:

• Proven customer service/sales experience
• Highly proficient in spoken and written English 
• Full driver’s license for driving in Europe
• No formal surf coaching or surf training is required for this position

DESIRABLE EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS

• Basic surf/ocean knowledge and experience working in a surf camp or surf school
• Background in sport science (sport science degree desirable)
• Additional coaching qualifications or teaching/coaching experience are a plus
• Experience working in a fast-paced professional environment
• Have worked or lived abroad
• Additional language/s a plus (Dutch, German or Spanish preferable)
• Basic knowledge of Portuguese is helpful but not essential

DATE OF EMPLOYMENT

An Assistant Surf Coach will work about 3 days a week. Hours and workload can change depending on the season but will not exceed 25 hours per week, which gives you plenty of time to surf and enjoy other activities. Please get in touch if you’re available for a minimum employment period of 3 months between the end of February until end of November during the following months: 

- March to June

- June to September

- August to November
