Role Summary:

Buglife is at the forefront of invertebrate conservation, working tirelessly to prevent the extinction of these vital creatures and the habitats they depend on. We are embarking on a bold new strategy to protect invertebrates across the UK.

The role of the Conservation Officer is to deliver our invertebrate-focused nature recovery projects in Northern Ireland. Our Northern Ireland Coastal Invertebrates project aims to restore and enhance habitats along the coast, supporting the recovery of threatened invertebrates that call these habitats home. You’ll be involved in invertebrate surveys and monitoring, habitat condition assessments, providing advice to landowners and land managers, and engaging local communities with the incredible wildlife right on their doorstep.

Job requirements include project management skills, ability to build strong partnerships, oversee practical habitat management works, develop innovative conservation solutions, coordinate permissions, manage specialist contractors, work with local communities, lead volunteers, and contribute to public relations and financial management. We’re looking for someone who has their own area of interest and specialism but can also demonstrate a broad knowledge of invertebrate ecology.
