What will you be doing?
What You'll Do:
Help create three types of personalized memorial keepsakes for bereaved families: uniquely illustrated eulogies, memory maker books, and fictional literature legacies. You'll work as part of a creative team, using AI tools, design platforms, and storytelling skills to transform family memories into beautiful, meaningful keepsakes that help children remember their loved ones forever.
Full training, guidance and mentorship will be provided when you join the team. Our team is an engaging, diverse community with a supportive focus as we really value the work and commitment of each of our volunteers.

Optional: Social Media Marketing (Dual Role):
If you want to expand your skills, you can also:
- Create social media content promoting our services
- Design graphics and visual posts for Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn
- Write engaging captions and messaging
- Engagement with our audience and prospective partnerships
- Share customer stories (with permission) to inspire others
- Build community around our bereavement support work
You Choose Your Focus:
- Focus entirely on storytelling/design if that's your passion
- Focus on social media if you prefer marketing/promotion
- Balance both roles if you want creative variety
- Switch focus as your interests evolve
Working as a Team:
You'll be part of a small creative team of volunteers, each working on different projects. You'll:
- Share ideas and get feedback from team members
- Support colleagues when they're overwhelmed
- Celebrate wins together when families love their keepsakes

- Gillian Seale (Founder) - creative direction and final approval on complex projects
Flexibility & Support:
- Choose how many projects you take on each month (1-5, your choice)
- Work entirely from home at times convenient to you
- Receive full training on all tools (Canva, AI platforms, design software)
- Access to tutorials and step-by-step guides
- No minimum hours - contribute what fits your schedule
Deliverables:
Each project you complete includes:
- Polished story/eulogy (ready to share with family)
- Designed pages with images and text (in Canva or design platform)
- Digital flipbook or printed version
- Feedback form (documenting family response)
What are we looking for?
The Ideal Content Creator: Qualities and Experience
We're seeking creative, tech-savvy volunteers who can work independently and collaboratively to craft meaningful stories and design beautiful memorial keepsakes. You don't need extensive professional experience—enthusiasm, creativity, and willingness to learn matter most.
Essential Qualities:
Comfort with Technology
This role involves using multiple digital tools (Canva, AI platforms, Microsoft Teams, design software). You should feel confident learning new software, troubleshooting basic issues, and reaching out for help when stuck. Experience with Canva, AI tools, or design software is helpful but not required—we'll train you. What matters is genuine comfort working digitally and enjoyment of creative tech tools.
Empathy and Emotional Intelligence
You're creating keepsakes for bereaved families during their most difficult time. You need genuine compassion for their situation, sensitivity to emotional content, and ability to handle stories about loss with care and respect. You don't need bereavement counseling experience—you need a kind heart and good judgment about what's appropriate.
Creative and Storytelling Ability
Whether you're crafting eulogies, writing children's legacy stories, or designing memory books, you need creative thinking and ability to find the narrative threads in family stories. This doesn't require professional writing experience—it requires imagination, good judgment about tone, and ability to make content resonate emotionally. Content creators, writers, teachers, marketers, or anyone who loves storytelling will thrive here.
Attention to Detail
Memory books need accuracy (correct names, dates, details), consistent formatting, and careful proofreading. You should naturally notice errors, care about polish, and be willing to revise based on feedback. This isn't about perfectionism—it's about respecting the families whose stories you're preserving.
Collaboration and Flexibility
You'll work as part of a creative team, not in isolation. You should enjoy bouncing ideas off teammates, giving and receiving constructive feedback, and supporting colleagues. Flexibility to help when others are overwhelmed (and acceptance that others help you during busy periods) matters.
Helpful Experience (But Not Required):
Any of these backgrounds are excellent:
- Content creation/marketing: Blog writers, social media managers, graphic designers
- Storytelling: Teachers, journalists, authors, copywriters, communications professionals
- Design: Canva users, graphic designers, UI/UX designers, marketing creatives
- Creative fields: Photographers, illustrators, video creators, artists
- Bereavement or care sectors: Counselors, hospice workers, pastoral carers (understanding the context is valuable)
Tech skills that help:
- Canva experience (design platform we use)
- Microsoft Teams comfort (communication tool)
- AI tools familiarity (ChatGPT, Midjourney, etc.)
- Basic design principles understanding
- Comfort with Google Docs/Microsoft Word
The Learning Mindset:
Most importantly, we're looking for people who want to learn and grow. If you're curious about AI, interested in design, want to develop storytelling skills, or simply want to learn new creative tools while doing meaningful work, you're perfect for this role. Professional experience matters far less than genuine enthusiasm.
Ideal Candidates Include:
- Career changers wanting to develop creative skills
- Content creators wanting to apply skills to social good
- People comfortable with technology who want to work creatively
- Students studying marketing, design, or creative fields seeking experience
- Career-breakers or semi-retired creatives wanting meaningful work
You don't need to be an expert—you need to be curious, kind, and willing to develop skills alongside teammates who are doing the same!
What difference will you make?
How Will This Role Help Your Organisation?
This Content Creator role is fundamental to TYM's ability to deliver our core mission: creating beautiful memorial keepsakes for bereaved families.
Enabling Our Entire Service Delivery
Every memorial book we create requires skilled storytelling, design, and project management. Without a team of Content Creators, our founder (Gillian) would be bottlenecked trying to create every book herself. Your work literally enables us to serve more families. One volunteer creating 2-3 books monthly means 24-36 families served annually who otherwise might be on a waiting list or turned away due to capacity constraints.
Freeing Founder to Lead
Gillian can't simultaneously create books, manage volunteers, write grants, deliver author talks, AND build partnerships. Your content creation work frees her to focus on strategy, fundraising, and organizational leadership rather than getting stuck in production tasks. You're enabling sustainable growth.
Building Scalability
Our goal is to reach thousands of bereaved families UK-wide—first through our pilot, then through partnerships with churches, hospices, and bereavement charities. But we can only scale if we have a team creating high-quality books consistently. Your participation builds the production capacity that makes scaling possible. Without volunteer Content Creators, we're limited to what one person can produce.
Developing Replicable Systems
As your team creates books together, you'll help refine and document our creative process. This becomes the foundation for training other organizations' staff through our training video program. Your real-world experience informs the systems and guides we'll teach to hospices, churches, and charities worldwide. You're not just creating individual books—you're helping design a scalable model.
Creating Quality Assets for Marketing
Each book you create becomes a potential case study, testimonial, or marketing asset (with family permission). Beautiful memorial keepsakes help us demonstrate our value to schools considering Postpixie packages, churches considering partnerships, and funders considering investment. Your work directly generates marketing material that supports income generation.
Demonstrating Community Impact
We use aggregate data from books created (number of families served, feedback received, outcomes reported) in grant applications. Your production contributes to the metrics that convince funders to invest in our growth. You're not just creating individual books—you're building the evidence base that secures funding for expansion.
In practical terms: if 3-5 Content Creator volunteers each complete 2-4 projects monthly, TYM can serve 24-60 families annually beyond what the founder could manage alone. That's 24-60 children receiving precious memorial keepsakes—which wouldn't exist without your creative work.
Anything else...
This can be flexible to fit in with the volunteers other commitments.
