The Wellcome Trust is a global charitable foundation dedicated to improving health by funding science, leading policy and advocacy campaigns, and building partnerships. We plan to spend £16bn over the next ten years, funding new discoveries in life, health, and wellbeing, and addressing three global health challenges: mental health, infectious disease, and climate and health. These challenges require bold science, which we support, but they also need more than just scientific solutions. Where in Wellcome will I be working? You will be part of our Sustainability team, reporting to the Associate Director of Sustainability. The Sustainability team is focused on reducing Wellcome's environmental impacts and achieving our net zero ambitions. What will I be doing? As the Environmental & Energy Manager, you will lead the development and implementation of initiatives to reduce the environmental impacts (energy, water, waste) and associated carbon emissions of our office buildings and the Wellcome Collection. Your responsibilities will include developing and implementing practical initiatives to reduce direct environmental impacts, working closely with the Mechanical & Electrical Services team and Maintenance contractor to ensure energy and water efficiency, and supporting the procurement and management of utility contracts. Is this job for me? If you have practical experience in delivering effective environmental and energy management for buildings and facilities, and a passion for improving energy efficiency, reducing water use, waste, and increasing recycling, this role is for you. Minimum criteria include the ability to engage and influence stakeholders at all levels, experience in delivering projects that improve environmental sustainability, knowledge of environmental legislation for building operations, and relevant training and qualifications in energy and environmental management subjects. Our Hybrid Way of Working: We offer a flexible working environment with 2 days per week in our Euston Road offices and 3 days from home. Diversity and Inclusion is a priority at Wellcome, and we are committed to creating a fair and inclusive environment where everyone can thrive. We offer excellent benefits and opportunities for personal and professional development.
