The Role
Our Visual Arts team is looking for an Exhibition Organiser to work across its dynamic programme. This is a key role in our team that ensures coordination and logistical arrangements are in place for the exhibition programme.
Located in Central London, we're one of the world’s leading arts and education organisations. The Art Gallery is dedicated to the presentation of thoughtful and curatorially ambitious exhibitions covering modern and contemporary art, design, architecture and photography. The Curve is devoted to the commissioning of installations by international contemporary artists.
We’re committed to increasing diversity of staff within the Barbican. As an organisation we welcome applications from people of all backgrounds and experiences. We are particularly keen to encourage interest from people with disabilities, LGBTQIA+, Black, Asian, and other global majority backgrounds. In recognising the positive value of diversity, we want to better reflect and understand the communities we exist to serve.
The Exhibition Organiser works with the Exhibitions Manager and the whole Visual Arts team, to ensure the highest standard of museum practice in relation to the care of exhibits, coordination and logistical arrangements for our exhibitions in London and at partner venues internationally.
About you
You’ll have excellent communication, administrative and organisation skills, with the ability to work well under pressure both independently and as part of a dynamic and supportive team.
You’ll bring proven experience of the art world, in particular exhibition delivery and registrarial work along with previous experience of working on exhibition tours.
You’ll be working across multiple projects so will need to demonstrate relevant practical experience.
Benefits
We offer a wide range of staff benefits including a great pension scheme, season ticket, cycle to work scheme, free access to museums and galleries, discounts on retail, healthcare and on-site cafes and restaurants. You will have access to Employee Assistance Programme, trained Mental Health First aiders and City of London staff networks
We’re members of the Disability Confident Scheme and guarantee to interview all disabled candidates who would like to be considered under this scheme and who meet the minimum essential criteria for the role. We support and provide adjustments for people with disabilities – if you have a disability and need help with the application process please contact us.
