  • Role Summary:

The European Space Agency is an exciting organisation committed to achieving diversity within the workforce and creating an inclusive working environment. We are currently seeking an Optoelectronics Engineer in the Optoelectronics Section, Mechatronics and Optics Division, Mechanical Department, Directorate of Technology, Engineering and Quality.

The Role: As an Optoelectronics Engineer, you will provide functional support to ESA projects and carry out technological research and development (R&D) in the field of optoelectronic device technologies and applications. You will be responsible for the specification, development and characterisation of photonic component subsystems and active optical instruments. Your first assignment will be to support projects in the Directorate of Connectivity and Secure Communications in the field of optical communications in ARTES, the European constellation of satellites for the secure connectivity programme, and the Optical Communications Strategic Programme Line (ScyLight), for example HydRON.

Job Requirements: A master’s in optoelectronic engineering or physics is required. Preference will be given to applicants with a PhD. At least five years of experience in optoelectronics engineering is required. Experience in optical space communications or feeder links is also necessary.

Benefits: This is a non-renewable post for a limited duration of four years and is classified A2-A4 on the Coordinated Organisations’ salary scale.
