The Behavioural Insights Team is the world leader in applying behavioural science to public policy challenges in order to strengthen communities and improve lives. We design and rigorously test new ideas across a range of areas such as health, crime and education, to establish what works and what doesn’t.

The role of Principal Advisor is in our International Programme team. You will oversee projects spanning a wide range of policy areas and countries. This includes online experiments to understand how to promote more sustainable lifestyles or improve financial literacy, interventions to increase young people’s enrollment in technical and vocational training or reduce food waste and electricity consumption, and supporting the establishment of Behavioural Insights Units within government.

Job requirements include a good understanding of the application of behavioural science to real-life policy problems in the MENA region, strong cultural sensitivity and experience adapting and delivering work in different contexts, strong technical skills and the ability to oversee qualitative and quantitative research, and exceptional written and verbal communication. Fluency in Arabic is desirable.

Benefits include flexible working, 25 days of annual leave (in addition to public holidays) for full-time employees, rising to 27 days after 2 years continuous service, a generous pension scheme with 7% employer contribution, enhanced parental leave payments, regular team lunches with inspirational guest speakers, and a flexible benefits programme which currently includes things like gym memberships, pension top up, cycle to work schemes, Medical and Dental Cash Plans and the ability to buy extra annual leave at the start of the year.

Please note: You will need to have the right to work in the UK in order to be able to undertake this role. We will ask all applicants short-listed for an interview to provide evidence of their right to work during the recruitment process. If you do not have the right to work for BIT but are the most suitable person for the role we will explore with you whether sponsorship may be an option. However, this may not be possible for all roles.
