The British Museum is seeking a Project Conservator: Objects to join the Department of Collection Care to assist in caring for the collection through a combination of interventive and preventive measures in support of the museum's operating plan.

The focus of this role is on the conservation of 3D objects from both organic and inorganic materials from across all curatorial departments for a prestigious international loan to Mumbai, India. The role requires the post holder to possess a recognised professional conservation qualification to degree level with an emphasis on object conservation.

Additionally, the postholder will have a strong knowledge of contemporary principles and practice in preventive conservation and will proactively engage with the Public Programme activities of the Department of Collection Care.

Key areas of responsibility include contributing to the conservation of objects of both organic and inorganic materials, preparation of objects for loan, exhibition, and permanent display, care of the collection through dedicated projects on collections in store, documentation, surveys, data collection, analysis, and support at public events, and working collaboratively with colleagues within the department and across the museum.
