Role Summary

  • Join the international ICLEI World Secretariat team, based in Bonn, Germany.
  • Be part of the Urban Research, Innovation, and Development Team and support the implementation of ICLEI's Global Research & Innovation Strategy.
  • Conduct research, gather data and provide information on requested subjects.
  • Support the production and broadcasting of ICLEI urban research publications.
  • Assist in organizing and contributing to research & innovation sessions at events.

Role Requirements

  • 1-2 years of work experience in a related field.
  • University degree (or equivalent) in Urban Studies, Sustainable Development, International Relations, Public Administration, Governance or a related field.
  • Proficiency in English, both written and spoken.
  • Strong writing skills and experience in academic writing and peer-reviewed publications is a plus.

Our Members and team of experts work together through peer exchange, partnerships and capacity building to create systemic change for urban sustainability. The role of Junior Officer, Urban Research, Innovation, and Development will be a part of the international ICLEI World Secretariat team based in Bonn, Germany, and will be placed within the Urban Research, Innovation, and Development Team. The successful candidate will support the implementation of ICLEI’s Global Research & Innovation (R&I) Strategy across ICLEI offices and within the World Secretariat. This includes conducting research, collecting data and information on requested topics, supporting the development and dissemination of ICLEI urban research publications, and supporting the organization of and contributions to research & Innovation sessions at events.

Job requirements include 1-2 years of work experience in a related field, a university degree (or equivalent) in a relevant subject such as Urban Studies, Sustainable Development, International Relations, Public Administration, Governance or a related field, and fluency in written and spoken English, with strong writing skills. Experience in academic writing and peer-reviewed publications is a plus.

Benefits include a flexible work-from-home policy within Germany, 30 days of paid leave annually, and a probation period of 3 months. The employment contract will be based on German law and is subject to visa/work permit regulations.
