Role Summary:

This part-time role offers a hybrid work setting and a competitive salary of £35,000 pro rata, including benefits such as annual leave and a cultural entitlement budget. The position is based in London with a flexible office arrangement at Somerset House.
Julie’s Bicycle (JB) is a pioneering not-for-profit organisation, mobilising the arts and culture to take action on the climate, nature and justice crisis. We are seeking a proactive and flexible part-time Researcher with a strong understanding of climate and environmental themes and policy, and an interest in the ways that these connect with cultural and creative industries.
The Researcher will undertake a wide range of desk research, sourcing and synthesising information into clear summaries and briefings to be shared internally and externally. They will collaborate with JB’s Programme Leads to link insights from on-the-ground projects into the wider external context. Working closely with the Senior Leadership team, the Researcher’s work will underpin JB’s thought-leadership and advocacy work for the role of culture in climate action.
The role is part-time, 2.5 days per week, on a 2 year fixed term contract. The location is hybrid, with an office base at Somerset House, London. The salary is £35,000 pro rata. The role reports to the Head of Programmes / Co-Director and the start date is as soon as possible.
Benefits include 25 days annual leave (pro rata), cultural entitlement of £250 per annum (pro rata) to spend on arts/ cultural events & activities, and pension scheme enrolment with 6% employer contributions.
The successful candidate will have a sound and broad knowledge of climate and environmental themes, policy and trends, a commitment to understanding of the role of culture and creativity in climate action, and experience in research methodologies. They will be numerically/statistically literate, highly organised with a strong attention to detail and accuracy, and have strong interpersonal skills.
