What will you be doing?

We’ve got funding from Innovate UK to begin a new way of managing our sustainable Dance to Health groups. In Dudley, we’re introducing a new more collaborative way of working to embed our groups into the local community. We’re setting up a new Dudley branch of Dance to Health, the branch will be run by a Community Board which will oversee the running of all Dance to Health groups in the area. We’re looking for people local to this area to join the Community Board. We need people who are experts or advocates in falls prevention, or health and wellbeing for older people. We’re also looking for people who are practical and proactive and good at getting things done. Each Community Board will work alongside our Local Group Representation Committee which will be made up of participants, volunteers and Dance Artists from each of the Dance to Health groups. The Committee represents the views of all the participants an ensures that they are actively involved in how the sustainable groups are run and develop.   Could you be part of the Community Board? If you live in Dudley, and are passionate about falls prevention or health and wellbeing for older people, we would love to hear from you.

What are we looking for?

Be a powerful advocate for Dance to Health and willing to champion our work through personal networks, social media, and other channels.  Possess an in-depth knowledge of Dudley and the local area.

A commitment to improving the health and wellbeing for older people in the Dudley community.

Having lived experience of the issue of falls among older people would be an advantage. Be the primary contact to liaise with the Local Group Representation Committee (LGRC) and ensure that ideas and concerns from the LGRC meetings are shared with the Board and vice versa.

Organised, experience in keeping records or paperwork in a systematic and accessible way.

Good communication skills, particularly in written English and the ability to summarise or precis a conversation accurately.

Can use desktop publishing software such as Word, Pages or similar applications to write letters or transcribe minutes of meetings. Ideally need access to a printer. Be personable and approachable. You will be working with others, and should be able to work closely with the Chairperson. Trustworthiness, dependability and honesty. Experience dealing with confidential materials. Demonstrable ability to protect private and privileged information.

What difference will you make?

We are looking for a Secretary to oversee the smooth and efficient running of the Community Board enabling it to work towards Aesop and Dudley Council’s vision to create a financially sustainable locally run falls prevention programme.
