What will you be doing?
The Sea Cadets is the UK’s leading maritime charity and provides a head start in life for young people through nautical adventure and fun. Our volunteers work, both directly with young people and behind the scenes, to help make a positive difference to young people aged 10-18. Worcester Sea & Royal Marines Cadets are currently looking for an enthusiastic and dedicated Treasurer to join its Unit Management Team (UMT) to support the management, and sustainability of the unit. We are a long-established Sea Cadet Unit that has provided life-changing opportunities for many young people from the local community. About the role: Sea Cadet units are managed and run by volunteers, The Unit Management Team (UMT) are the units trustees. The UMT is responsible for the running of the unit at a strategic and management level. The primary purpose of UMT Trustees is to support the Unit chair to manage a safe, successful and financially sustainable Sea Cadet unit, this includes; managing the account, health & safety, insurance, fundraising, utilities, the unit minibus, governance and resources/equipment. Our Unit Management Team meet for approx.1-2 hours on a monthly/bi-monthly basis (virtually and face to face)
What are we looking for?
The tasks of a Treasurer include but are not restricted to the following:
Keeping up to date and accurate records of income and expenditure. Ensuring regular reports are available to the Trustees. Ensuring that annual returns are completed and checked by the appropriate person, and Charity regulator. A passion for making a difference to young people and the local community Good communication skills An ability to work well with a team Previous experience in a financial /budgetary setting. A good understanding of how a small charity works or a willingness to learn A background of working with young people, would be useful but not essential Attend a regular UMT meeting - usually 1 hour, monthly or bi-monthly, on a weekday evening Attend the Annual General Meeting and report on the accounts of the unit

By being actively involved in the Unit Management Team you will be ensuring the unit is safe, successful and sustainable, allowing more young people to access the fantastic opportunities available to them through Sea Cadets.
