What will you be doing?

Our board is currently going through a transistion period and we need trustees to join a small group of existing trustees to take the charity on the next step of it's journey. In particular we need people with expertise in buildings management and community development (including youth work); and we would welcome anyone with professional skills (espeically HR). We are also looking for people who bring enthusiasm for the centre, want to engage with the community and who want to make a difference to the people of Southam. Buildings Management: We are looking for a trustee with a practical experience in building and facilities management skills as well as an understanding of relevant H&S compliance. Could you help us with assessing needs from a maintenance and improvement perspective and formulate a maintenance plan, meet with contractors to get our buildings projects underway? Contacts in the building industry to facilitate quoting would be advantageous!  Community Development (including Youth Work) The centre is at the heart of the community - we have previously been used as a Children's Centre and have been hired by a number of small businesses and community groups. Could you help us to be responsive to the needs of our community, rebuild the services we offer (including relaunching the Youth Club and Toddler group) and enable us to support those most in need. Human resources management: We currently have a very small staff but would look to increase this with project based staff when funding is in place. Could you help us with onboarding, role definition, performance measurement and personal development? We want to relaunch our volunteering offer. Could you help us with leading a programme the makes volunteering fun and ensures volunteers grow, gain skills and build up an effective CV while also supporting local organisations and needs?

What are we looking for?

We are looking for trustees who want to contribute to the strategic vision of the centre. They will demonstrate a commitment to the organisation both in board meetings but also within the wider community balancing the strategic involvement with practical support. You will need to have an understanding and acceptance of the legal duties, responsibilities and liabilities of trusteeship / company directorship.

What difference will you make?

This is an opportunity to help grow a longstanding organisation, to fully meet our charitable objectives, and to make a significant difference to many local people. The charity: - provides activities for young children (Baby and Toddler Group) - offers a range of leisure clubs and activities (NCT and Girlguiding groups, exercise and dance classes) - helps address food poverty (hosting Southam Foodbank) - works to combat isolation and loneliness (Lunch Club for the elderly) - supports education (home to The Grange Preschool) You have the opportunity to help us take that significantly further, by improving how we work as an organisation and what we offer. Your contribution could be to help shape the operations of the whole organisation, or to focus on building up a specific service for a specific group. Our community is very diverse, and pretty much every imaginable need exists here. The Graham Adams Centre aspires to be the local go-to location for social and community needs. You could help make that happen.
