Baobab Batik is a social enterprise based in Swaziland producing hand made home decor and accessories using the batik method. Our vision is to be a leading example in Swaziland and globally of a social enterprise using thought leadership and innovation to improve the lives of women and their communities.

What can we offer Escapees?

 We can offer the Escapees ispiringing work in beautiful natural surroundings. Our workshop is based on a farm in Malkerns, right next to the Mlilwane Wildlife Sanctuary, and from our deck we can see zebra and impala grazing. Coming to Swaziland for a year is to press pause in regards to normal city life. Swaziland is mainly a rural country, where the pase is slower and most people to some extent live off the land. Spending a year with us with give the Escapee an opportunity to get isight into this lifestyle, and spend a year getting to know a different culture.

We have a very good work environment at Baobab Batik. We employ 35 women woen full time, and all our employees come from the surrounding areas. Many of our employees have been with us for over ten years. We can offer the Escapee to become part of this team, and to learn from all the women working here who all have an interesting story to tell.

In addition to this we can offer the Escapee an interesting job! Where he or she will be given responsibilities and have an opportunity to find their own way of solving problems. Working with Baobab Batik is an opportunity for the Escapee to grow their skills. And  for their work to have direct positive impact for Baobab Batik and the women working here.
