BATHMENCAP

Bath Mencap Society is a local charity supporting people with learning disabilities and their families and carers in Bath and North East Somerset. We aim to improve the lives of those with a learning disability through education and social activities. We believe everyone with a learning disability should be able to access the same social and leisure activities as their peers, in a safe and relaxed environment, and live fulfilling lives where they are valued equally. We currently provide valuable social activities through a junior gateway club, an activities group who go ten pin bowling and meet for a Sunday lunch cooking session and a quarterly night club at Komedia, Uproar, Bath’s first club night exclusively for adults with learning disabilities, their families, carers and friends. We are in the process of expanding the range of activities and services in response to our members’ needs, and take time to find out what our members would like to do. Bath Mencap is affiliated to, but not funded by, National Mencap. As a registered charity, running since 1964, we rely entirely on grants, donations and fundraising, as we receive no statutory funding.
