The ratio of women and black and other minorities is far superior than any previous tech and startup I have worked at. It creates an environment where we do not have to perform mainstream theatrics in order to fit in and it is such a rarity and a blessing!

📣 Mission & Purpose
BYP Network works hard at ensuring that this generation and the next of black professionals get better chances at joining the upper echelons of corporations and acquiring wealth and knowledge that was previously precluded from them.

Management actively encourages learning opportunities via courses or allowing staff to place themselves on projects beneficial to their career growth.

📣 Mission & Purpose
BYP's mission of connecting black leaders to reputable corporations and of changing the narrative of black professionals living in diaspora is a major reason I joined them and I can state boldly that this mission is being fulfilled.

BYP Network goes about their mission by creating small communities (BYPeer groups) for black folks across cities promoting networking opportunities, which is how I first came to join them. By joining and volunteering to lead the community in my city, I got to connect with industry leaders and game-changers which really helped my development as a professional. The joy for me was also helping other professionals in my city connect and develop as well.

I thereafter decided to join BYP HQ to help in the furtherance and success of this mission on a broader scale, as it is truly a worthy cause and I am proud to be a part of them.

🤩 Flat hierarchy
The chain of command at BYP is not bureaucratic which eliminates red tape and allows for faster decision making and implementation processes.

The communication flow is very fast and effective and it is easier to connect and collaborate with my colleagues and managers on tasks/projects.

For me personally, I find it is easier to carry out tasks since I can easily reach out to anyone on the team to quickly work on a task together or just to gain their insight/input rather than waiting for different approvals which could be frustrating.

😎 Autonomy
Team members at BYP are self-directed and highly motivated. Everyone at HQ is relatively skilled in their area of assignment and there is little supervision from the top.

Tasks/projects are usually given a timeline with deliverables, expectations and deadlines clarified and specified. Reviews are done amidst tasks/projects to ensure that team members are on the right track. Our skills and abilities are respected and put to good use.

The sense of faith BYP has put in us has really helped my development and growth as a professional in my area of expertise.

Overall

Pay is great, there are very competitive benefits, work environment is very chill and collaborative, team members support and treat each other with respect, hybrid working conditions, many learning and development opportunities, everyone's opinions count, it is an ideal place to work.
