CAPITAL Project Trust was founded in 1997 to support people with lived experience of mental health distress at a time when people had no voice. It has become the independent representation of the lived experience community in West Sussex, delivering peer support in hospital and other settings, as well as local group activities and training. Additionally, CAPITAL has been at the forefront of collaborations with other organisations in the field, setting up co-production projects, a lived experience network, and the Pathfinder Sussex service which signposts people to the right service for them. Since our inception, we have supported many thousands of people to improve their mental health through peer support. Everyone involved at CAPITAL from the top down has experience of mental health issues, and is passionate about improving the lives of and services for those who have similar challenges.
