Carers are adults whose lives are affected by caring for a family member, friend or neighbour who has a physical or learning disability, long term or terminal illness, mental health needs or substance dependency. Carers assist the person they care for with domestic tasks, personal care, financial planning, medical attention, emotional support, communication, liaising with professionals on their behalf and more. Although caring can be deeply rewarding it can also consume a lot of time and physical and emotional energy. Caring can prevent you from having time to yourself, to look after yourself or being able to access work or further education. We exist to support carers to overcome this and maintain a quality of life around caring.
