Figures from the 2020 Stockport Joint Strategic Needs Assessment indicate that 2,850 people in Stockport have a diagnosis of dementia, an increase of more than 900 over the previous 5 years, with prevalence rates higher than the national average. It is estimated that only 75% of people living with dementia in Stockport have been diagnosed, meaning that around 1,000 people are living with dementia without a diagnosis. By 2030, the expected prevalence of dementia is estimated to be 50% higher than this level. Our aim is to use music to inspire memories, conversation, and friendships in and between people living with dementia.
