At Dragoman we aim to offer authentic grass-roots adventurous holidays. Travel with us and we'll get you off the beaten track and really under the skin of the places whatever style of trip you choose. This means taking the road less travelled mixing with the locals learning about their culture and most importantly having an open mind.

We are based in rural Suffolk in the east of England and are proud to be independently owned. We ran our first tour in 1981 and have grown to be a marketleader in overland travel. Over the years we've grown steadily in size but are still small enough to aim to ensure that each Dragoman traveller has a unique - and hopefully - life changing experience. Last year 2500 travellers joined us on a Dragoman adventure visiting 66 different countries across Africa Asia and Latin America.

Our Heritage

Dragoman has a proud history, standing at the forefront of the overlanding industry since the company's formation in 1981. Our first overlanding expedition to Nairobi and back set off in the summer of 1982, with our first trips to Asia following in 1984. In 1989, Dragoman launched operations in South America, and in 1994 (now with 13 trucks) we expanded out to Central America.

In 2001 Dragoman took over the assets of Encounter Overland, and we have been proud overlanding partners with Intrepid since 2008. Dragoman became the owners of Imaginative Traveller in 2011, the same year that our first truck arrived in South East Asia. Finally, in 2013 we entered North America, and were the first ever overlanding company to visit Burma.

Over the years we’ve grown steadily in size to our current fleet of 26 overland trucks and 1 converted overland bus, but are still small enough to ensure that each Dragoman traveller has a unique, and life-changing experience. We are proud to be independently owned by the original founders, who are just as passionate today about delivering an incredible overlanding experience to all of our customers as they were back in 1981! Last year, 2500 travellers joined us on a Dragoman overlanding adventure, visiting 55 different countries across Africa, Asia and Latin America.

Our Principles

Although overlanding has changed and adapted through the years, we fiercely stick by the principles that have seen us flourish through over 30 years of pioneering overland success. We aim to get off the beaten track and really under the skin of the places we visit, taking the road less travelled, mixing with the locals, learning about their culture, and most importantly having an open mind.

We focus on giving the best training and support to our crew, specially craft our itineraries to allow us to travel at a relaxed pace and allow the freedom and flexibility to explore the region and be as active as you want. We always keep our commitment to responsible travel at the heart of everything we do. 

Our Trips

Overland truck holidays

Many of our trips are a convenient 14-21 days, offering a great snapshot of a country or region - in just a short break from your everyday life we can get you off the tourist trail and take you on a perspective-changing journey. 

These short trips can also be combined to create epic journeys lasting up to 235 days. Our iconic Istanbul to Beijing overland follows in the footsteps of the ancient Silk Route caravans, or you can join us on a trans-Africa expedition from Cape Town to Cairo, or travel the entire length of the Americas from Alaska to Tierra del Fuego. Or journey from Mongolia down through China, Burma and the rest of South East Asia  – and in India you can circle the continent. These are incredible journeys that will change your life!
