Earthship Biotecture is an international organization specialized in self-sustainable construction methods and community building founded by pioneer Michael Reynolds 45 years ago.

Our purpose is to build houses using local materials and sustainable living methods all around the world teaching volunteers and building an international self-sustainable community for a better future.

About us

Earthship Biotecture is the founder organization dedicated to build Earthships, self-sustainable comfortable houses to promote independence and make our planet a better place.

We have built Earthships for over 45 years, providing the world with a way of living in self-sustainable, off-grid houses and sharing our knowledge with anybody who wants to join our green army of better, greener living.

Our Headquarters are based in Taos, New Mexico, but we have brought people together from all over the world to work on builds and work with communities in Haiti, Sierra Leone, Malawi, Philippines, Argentina, etc.

Our aim is to build strong structural buildings that provide warmth or coolness, water and power for communities that need it all over the world and transfer our knowledge to those who need it in order to benefit as many people on the planet as possible.

Michael Reynolds

Michael Reynolds first started experimenting with self sustainable
architecture in 1972, and today is a well known and admired leader
in the areas of green and self sustainable architecture. He is a
proponent of "radically sustainable living". He has been a critic of
the profession of architecture for its failure to deal with the
amount of waste that building design creates. Mr Reynolds is the
brand ambassador for Earthship Biotecture and is frequently cited
in publications as well as having an international agenda of lectures
and prominent conferences.

• Collect their own power from the sun and wind

• Harvest their own water from rain and snow melt

• Contain and treat their own sewage on site

• Produce a significant amount of food

• Are constructed using recycled materials just like cans, bottles and tires.
