From small beginnings towards the end of the 19th century, the collection of historic places we manage has grown to over 400, inspired by a determination to put England's heritage ahead of private interest. Originally set up as a government agency in 1983, English Heritage has now become a registered charity.
We offer a hands-on experience that will inspire and entertain people of all ages. Our work is informed by the values of authenticity, quality, imagination, responsibility and fun. Our vision is that people will experience the story of England where it really happened.
The enthusiasm and skills of our colleagues and volunteers make English Heritage a special place to work both at our sites and behind the scenes. We are always looking for talented and motivated people from a wide range of sectors and backgrounds to join us.
From the Tower of London to Stonehenge, English Heritage cares for over 400 historic buildings, monuments and places. Their vision is that people will experience the story of England where it really happened. A pretty unique objective that we think is just as exciting to work for as it sounds. What’s more, their employees agree - they ranked highly in the Escape 100 for colleague wellbeing.
