As members of the Fair Trade USA team, we believe we have some of the most meaningful, rewarding, and impactful jobs in the world of social enterprise!
We believe deeply that our current approach to the planet and its people doesn't work, and we want to make things better. We accomplish this by using a market-based approach to global trade. We also enjoy operating in an innovative, fast-paced and rapidly-changing environment.
- Protects the planet by ensuring that farmers follow strict environmental standards, while providing financial incentives and resources for organic conversion, reforestation, water conservation and environmental education.
- Builds sustainable businesses by supporting training for rural farmers and allowing them to deal directly with market buyers. Farmers receive Fair Trade premiums for the products they supply, and continually reinvest portions of their revenue. This means farming communities are constantly building their capacities and becoming truly empowered to create change in their lives.
- Empowers women to play an active role in their families and their communities by starting businesses with guaranteed access to health care, certain job rights and freedom from harassment.
- Supports education with revenues set aside to build schools and maintain enrollment.
