Free UK Genealogy

Free UK Genealogy is a charity dedicated to providing free public access to family history records. We have three websites (FreeBMD, FreeREG and FreeCEN) that enable anyone to access the information they hold, completely for free. This means that people with little disposable income aren't excluded from finding information about their ancestors. We also make our data available to academic institutes so that the information can be useful in lots of other ways. Since our inception in 1998, our volunteers have enabled us to make over 400 million records available. As of 31st December 2022, we have 2,693 volunteers across the world working in our three projects.
