Vigilance of Brixham is the last sailing trawler built in Brixham, the birthplace of trawling. Launched in 1926, she is one of only seven remaining of the hundreds built, and one of only two based in Brixham. Friends of the Vigilance exists to ensure the survival of this historic vessel. We are currently engaged in a major rebuild to give her the best chance of surviving for another 100 years. When complete Vigilance's iconic red sails will once more be seen in the waters of Torbay, and visitors young and old will be able to come aboard and to experience this wonderful vessel under sail. All involved - trustees, maintenance and sailing crew, are volunteers.
