We are a borderless largely volunteer community of more than 800 writers analysts online media experts and translators. Global Voices has been leading the conversation on citizen media reporting since 2005.

What we do:

Report: Our trusted team of editors and writers reports on 167 countries in our completely virtual non-profit newsroom.

Translate: Our international team of translators renders our stories into more than 30 languages.

Defend: Our Advox project defends online rights and freedoms and fights censorship.

Empower: Our Rising Voices project empowers isolated and marginalized communities with tools skills and support.

Connect: We organize summits for our contributors and the public to meet face-to-face. Hundreds have met in 8 different countries in the past 10 years.
