Fair Trade is a trading partnership, based on dialogue, transparency and respect, which seeks greater equity in international trade, putting people before profit. It contributes to sustainable development, which is particularly important in the face of climate change, by offering better trading conditions to, and securing the rights of, marginalized producers and workers, especially in the global South. Fair Trade organisations have a clear commitment to fair trade at the core of their mission. Backed by consumers, they are actively engaged in supporting producers, raising awareness and in campaigning for changes in the rules and practice of conventional international trade (World Fair Trade Organisation definition). The majority of our products are sourced from a group of around 30 UK-based organisations who work with producers worldwide and are also members of, or affiliated to, the WFTO.
