Library of Things is on a mission to make borrowing better than buying. We help people save money and reduce waste by affordably renting out useful Things like drills, sound systems and sewing machines from community venues in 17+ neighbourhoods across London & the South East. We also help organisations to power their own rental and lending operations by licensing our software, hardware, supply chain & 8 years of behaviour change knowhow.
Escape's take on Library of Things
In a world where the instinct of many is to get a new one when something breaks, the Library of Things is turning this thinking on its head. They're providing a revolutionary option to rent, not buy, many of the things we might need in our day to day lives. Having started just in one neighbourhood, they've expanded now to several locations in London and are quickly disrupting the communities in which they operate. Their mission to reduce the environmental burden of all of our stuff, and encourage communities to band together to help and support each other, is one of the reasons we love what they're doing.

📣 Mission & Purpose
Library of Things is passionate about using business for good. I love that we are encouraged to have an input, and are able to always consider the environmental impact of our decisions. We spend so much of our life working - it feels great spend that time doing something that's having a positive impact.
⛑ Employee wellbeing
We have a 9 day fortnight, which has been really great for wellbeing. It's been really important to have flexibility to work around health issues. Everyone genuinely cares.

Everyone is so lovely! It's great to be part of such a kind and caring team! We always check in how we are at the start of any meeting, and end it with a joke - it's so nice to be treated like a human!
Overall

As someone who has been involved in other change projects - this is delivering change at a whole other level - with 10,000 items borrowed this year alone.
