Literacy Pirates are no ordinary charity. They are dedicated to improving the literacy, confidence and perseverance of children who, for a variety of reasons, may be falling behind at school and disengaged from their own potential. Their unique after-school learning model takes children aged 9-12 on a swashbuckling adventure to develop their literacy, confidence, and perseverance. We loved Literacy Pirates’ fun and different approach to working with children, their Laser Squad (a group of volunteers who give up their time to support the charity) programme and their ethos of fun, community and growth.
