Odiyan is an all-volunteer non-profit Buddhist center dedicated to meaningful work wholesome living and the development of mind and spirit. Founded in 1975 by Venerable Tarthang Tulku Rinpoche Odiyan is located on a 1000-acre spiritual and ecological preserve 100 miles north of San Francisco overlooking the Pacific Ocean.
Founded in 1975 by Tibetan Lama Tarthang Tulku, Odiyan is an all-volunteer non-profit Retreat Center located on 1,000 breathtakingly beautiful acres of ponds, forests, gardens, orchards and sacred architecture, overlooking the Pacific Ocean in northern California.
Odiyan is dedicated to meaningful work, wholesome living, community involvement, and the inner development of mind and spirit.
Odiyan resident volunteers receive housing, vegetarian meals and a small living allowance while working to create the symbols of the Tibetan Buddhist tradition in the West as well as serving to strengthen Buddhist cultures throughout Asia.
For over 40 years volunteers from all over the world have been coming for six months or more to develop their own potential and contribute to the unique and holistic vision of enlightened knowledge for the benefit of all beings.
Although Odiyan has its foundations in Tibetan Buddhism, no religious affiliation is required. We are seeking volunteers who are open-minded, self-reflective and ready to engage deeply on both inner and outer levels.
We are currently recruiting volunteers aged 24-40 who are physically competent and able to handle tools, small machinery and manual labor on a daily basis. You will be engaging gardening, farming, landscaping, cooking, construction, concrete, masonry and foundry work, and repairs of every kind.

Gardening, construction, landscaping, art, sculpture and cookling.
Prefer experience with tools and machinery but not required.
You give: your time and energy for six months or more.
You get: housing, vegetarian meals, living allowance of $150 per month,
Skill training in wide range of trades and traditional arts
Classes on inner development of mind and spirit, yoga
