OUR STORY

Alex (loves languages) and Jonny (loves stories) have been friends for almost 8 years. Ever since they met, they’ve been thinking of ways to combine their two passions into a business. The first time they tried they were just 17 years old and ended up dressing as penguins and sleeping on boxes full of books.

One Third Stories is the culmination of all that experience, a lot of coffee and the belief that every child should grow up with the chance to be bilingual. We’re out to start a language learning revolution through stories that start in English and end in a different language…

ALEX SOMERVELL

Alex speaks Spanish, Italian, Portuguese and, occasionally, English. This year, he’s decided to add Russian to his repertoire too. Alex loves to travel and has lived all over the world, studying, teaching languages and learning absolutely nothing about how to cook any of the national cuisines. He is currently a member of the New Entrepreneurs Foundation.

JONNY PRYN

Jonny is a lifelong lover of books and can generally be found in the cafes of North London either reading them or trying to write one. He has worked in a handful of schools, been a creative writing facilitator for adults with learning disabilities, and is a Fellow of The Royal Society of Arts. Jonny is also responsible for 94% of One Third Stories’ tea consumption.
