Phosphoros Theatre (founded 2015) is an award-winning, industry-leading company focused on amplifying refugee voices and creating greater opportunities for refugees to access services and widen participation in the arts. We collaborate with leaders, young people and artists with lived experience of forced migration, creating positive transitions for some of the most vulnerable and disadvantaged young people in London. We won the Men and Boys Coalition Diversity and Inclusion Award in 2021, they said “Phosphoros Theatre’s work in supporting the welfare and personal development of refugees has never been more urgent or important.” Our work is changing lives every day. Our core objectives are to:
Provide paid work, training and development opportunities for refugee artists and youth workers. Collaborate with refugee artists and youth workers to develop bold arts practices, increasing representation within refugee communities. Contribute to best practice in the arts and refugee sectors, through delivering refugee-led, informed, creative training. Raise awareness of refugee issues through advocacy and media work.
