Public Practice is a social enterprise that is building the skills local authorities need; to shape the places we deserve. Our mission is to improve the quality, equality and sustainability of places for everyone by building the public sector’s capability to shape places for the better.
Our purpose is not just to increase and diversify the built environment expertise working in local government, it's to transform the status of public service, and support those working within it to lead the way. To do this we have created The Associate Programme, a unique professional placement programme specifically designed for built environment practitioners and their public authority hosts.
We offer professionals currently in the private sector an attractive route into working for the public sector and support them with an in-depth learning and development course, whilst also celebrating and capturing leading industry knowledge and sharing it across the wider sector.
Public Practice believes that the role of local government is crucial in creating and managing everyday places that work for everyone. Which is where Public Practice comes in. To achieve this it must be well resourced with diverse, placemaking skills, and the right support to lead the way. They are forward thinking in their people and culture approach; offering a 9 day fortnight, changing the way they represent their programme diverse data and conducting an Equity, Equality, Diversity and Inclusion (EEDI) Audit. Public Practice are striving for great things, and are always on the lookout for great people to join them.
